Rafsanjani: Sound Mind Does Not Approve Of Filtering

Tehran, June 15, 2014 – Condemning beliefs of those who consider power as their natural right, Ayatollah Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani said here Saturday that blocking faucets of information dissemination backfires and sound mind does not approve of filtering. Ayatollah Rafsanjani who was speaking to a group of university student activists inside Iran and abroad said that those who create chaotic conditions inside the country have no support among the people. “In foreign policy, too, the countries that try to disturb Iran’s détente policy are those that have no convincing response to the world public opinion to match Iran’s logical approach,” he added. The chairman of the Expediency Council said that refraining from getting involved in political disputes in the Iranian society is both rational and logical, arguing, “It is both polite, and ethically approved to adopt a moderate approach, both in our words and in our deed, and to refrain from both ends of extremism.” Rafsanjani said that June 14, 2013, was the day that the Iranian youth enthusiastically showed their political maturity (in presidential election) and uprooted pessimism from the Iranian society. The former president said that he wholeheartedly believed that the last year’s presidential election result was the fruit of the people’s awareness, saying: That is the reason why I am optimist about the future. The chairman of the Expediency Council said that the growth of public awareness in a society is quite important in fate-making of that society, setting example of the successful conduct of the girls and women in Iranian universities and scientific centers. “The learned women showed that despite the beliefs of the reactionaries, they are worthy scientists whose viewpoints make great distinctions in the science world,” he said. Hashemi Rafsanjani said that the Iranian women cannot be confined to the barriers of their homes due to the mentality of those whose thoughts that have roots in ignorance, as they have a model like the Grand Prophet’s daughter, Lady Fatemeh (P). Elsewhere in his address, the Expediency Council chairman criticized the high prevalence of lack of ethical values in the behavior of some groups and tendencies, such as swearing, saying that wrath is the language of the ignorant people and those with low intelligence. “The wise people are pro-peace, stability and moderate approach and refrain from aggression and chaotic conditions, but they say what they mean logically,” he said./end
