Serb Professor: Sanctions Led To Solidarity Of Iranian Nation

Belgrade, July 17, IRNA – A Serbia University professor told IRNA Monday western anti-Iran sanctions and threats have led to unity and solidarity of Iranian nation, as well as self sufficiency of Iran in various fields. Professor Vladimir Cheerich added in an interview with IRNA in Belgrade, “Iran is pursuing its peaceful nuclear program in accordance with the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT), and therefore, the US and EU sanctions against that country are unjust, illegitimate and against the international laws.” Referring to the international oil embargo imposed under the US hegemony against the Islamic Republic of Iran he said, “Although the White House is the designer of these sanctions, but the European countries pursuing Washington’s policies, too, are responsible for the political and diplomatic aftermaths of them inside and outside their countries.” He said, “Some European countries have suffered greatly due to the anti-Iranian oil sanctions, and therefore the continuation of this process can aggravate the dimensions of the financial and economic crises in those countries, and even lead to broader social unrests beyond their borders.” The Serbian University professor referred to the continuation of the G5+1 negotiations with Iran simultaneously with intensifying the sanctions against the Islamic Republic of Iran, emphasizing, “The threats and sanctions policy under such conditions has been designed by Washington aimed at tension building, but relying on some countries’ support Washington cannot resort to such an approach and emerge victorious from the process of the negotiations.” He said, “In a number of rounds of negotiations with the G5+1 with Iran, the United States, Britain, and France have resorted to an illogical and illegal approach, thus blocking the path for reaching any positive and constructive outcome.” Cheerich emphasized that the entire international bodies’ documents prove the peaceful nature of Iran’s nuclear program, adding, “So long as the G5+1 talks are held under the shadow of the imperialist policies of the United States those negotiations are doomed to defeat.” He emphasized that no world power can block the path for the scientific progress and technological advancement of other countries, adding, “The entire NPT member countries are entitled the right to have peaceful nuclear programs, including provision of their own nuclear fuel, which is in need of uranium enrichment at a logical level.” The Serbia University professor said that resistance of such countries as Russia and China against the illogical demands of the United States towards Iran’s nuclear program is a positive step in line with ridding the world of unilateralism./end
