SNSC Secretary Arrives In Beirut

Beirut, Aug 6, IRNA - Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council Saeed Jalili arrived in Beirut’s Rafic Hariri international airport on Monday. Upon his arrival, Jalili was warmly welcomed by Lebanon's Foreign Minister Adnan Mansour and Iran’s Ambassador to Lebanon Ghazanfar Roknabadi. Jalili will review issues of mutual interests as well as the latest regional and international developments with senior Lebanese officials including President Michel Suleiman, Prime Minister Najib Mikati, Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri and Foreign Minister Adnan Mansour. He is also to attend an Iftar banquet at Iran's Embassy in Beirut where over 300 outstanding media persons from Lebanon, Palestine and Iran are to attend. The Organization of the Islamic Cooperation (OIC) member states are to convene in Gabon on April 20 to ratify a bill to support Qods Day and Palestine. The International Qods Day was founded by the late Imam Khomeini in 1979 to voice solidarity with the Palestinians. International Qods Day is marked by world Muslims on the last Friday of Ramadan to condemn occupation of Palestinian territories by the Zionist regime./end
