Tajikistan, Kazakhstan sign strategic partnership agreement

DUSHANBE, September 14. /TASS/. Kazakhstan’s President Nursultan Nazarbayev and Tajikistan’s President Emomali Rakhmon signed an inter-state Agreement on Strategic Partnership and agreements on cooperation in information protection, in education and sports. "Being subjects of strategic partnership relations, we spoke for further development of bilateral and multi-lateral cooperation in regional security," Tajikistan’s president said. "We consider cooperation between our countries in this direction as a factor of maintaining peace and stability in the region." During the negotiations, the leaders confirmed "fighting modern global threats, including the current alarming situation along the CIS southern borders, - is our common task and we should apply every effort to minimise those threats to the national and regional security." The Tajik president said during the talks with Nazarbayev they "focused on issue of the trade and economic character, as Kazakhstan is among other three major trade counterparts."
