Thai Prime Minister:All-sided cooperation will lead to national reconciliation
BANGKOK, December 8 (TNA) - Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra has urged cooperation from all parties in the Thai society to achieve national reconciliation.
In response to reports on more red-shirt activists involving in Thailand's political unrest last year have turned themselves in to investigative authorities, including a former Thai pop singer, Arisman Pongruangrong, reasoning his more confidence in national reconciliation gestures for the time being, Yingluck told journalists Thursday that she views all-sided cooperation with mutual understanding and determination to jointly resolve problems will help achieve national reconciliation eventually.
The Pheu Thai premier insisted that a common determination by all groups in the society appears to be a key toward national reconciliation, although there may be differences in individuals' opinions, which should not be viewed as a social rift.
Regarding any possibility for convicted ex-Thai prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra, who has been aligned with the ruling Pheu Thai Party, to give himself in to Thai authorities as well, amid the more favourable gestures toward national reconciliation, Premier Yingluck, who is Thaksin's youngest sister, acknowledged that certain factors need to be examined, namely harmony among all groups and equality in legal enforcements and practices, to ensure and sustain national reconciliation and peace under the common rule of laws without any discrimination.
The prime minister, however, called on all parties in the society to give priority to joining her government's existing all-out efforts in assisting flood victims and in implementing post-flood rehabilitation plans. (TNA)
