Turkey's EU minister meets lawmakers from EP

ISTANBUL (A.A) - November 4, 2011 - Turkey's European Union (EU) Minister Egemen Bagis on Friday met with a group of MPs from the European Parliament's committees on domestic market and protection of consumers as well as public health and food safety in Istanbul.       Speaking at the meeting, Bagis said EU countries failed to understand enough Turkey's importance, which he said constituted a major problem for his country. "EU is Turkey's dietitian. But if a dietitian keeps insisting on discouraging the patient, then the patient loses enthusiasm for carrying on with the diet," Bagis said.      Bagis said visa issue was a major problem for Turkey, calling on the EP members to speak out for Turkey to solve the visa issue.
