Turkish Cypriot fm: Greek Cypriot side tries to pursue insolubility in the island

LEFKOSA (A.A) - January 4, 2011 - Foreign Minister Huseyin Ozgurgun of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) has said that the intention of Greek Cypriot side was to pursue insolubility in the island, not to reach a permanent consensus. Releasing a statement on Wednesday, Ozgurgun said that Greek Cypriot administration insisted on slandering Turkish Cypriot side instead of trying to reach consensus. It proved one more time that Greek Cypriots intended to pursue insolubility in Cyprus issue prior to the New York Summit between January 22 and 24, he noted. Ozgurgun added that TRNC had been aware of vain efforts of Greek Cypriots to deteriorate the ties between Turks and Turkish Cypriots, noting that it was nobody's business to question the relations between peoples of Turkey and TRNC. He said that insincere attitude of Greek Cypriot side brought serious question marks about whether Greek Cypriot side was ready for a new partnership on basis of equality in the island. TRNC President Dervis Eroglu and leader of the Greek Cypriot administration Demetris Christofias will attend the fifth trilateral meeting with the UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon in New York between January 22 and 24.
