US Forces Exit From Iraq, Great Political Success: Iran

Tehran, Jan 1, IRNA – Iranian Foreign Ministry said that the exit of US forces from Iraq after eight years of occupation was a big success and great political and security achievement for the people, government, religious scholars and political groups of the country. In a statement on Sunday, the ministry noted that Iraq has been suffering big political and security challenges during the years of the US military presence in the country. The nation managed to go through the turmoil successfully without getting trapped in tribal and civil wars thanks to its firm will and the great insight of its political and religious figures, the statement stressed. The Foreign Ministry statement also congratulated the Iraqi people as a friendly and brotherly nation which made great sacrifices in the past years to defend its territorial integrity, sovereignty and independence and voiced readiness of the Iranian nation to continue to play a constructive role in Iraq by offering political support to the process of construction of the country.
