Iranian wins EGU’s Outstanding Young Scientists Award
TEHRAN, Nov. 02 (MNA) – The European Geosciences Union (EGU) has honored an Iranian scientist as one of the four recipients of the Outstanding Young Scientists award for 2016.
Iranian scientist Kaveh Madani, a senior lecturer in environmental management and the Director of Alumni at the Centre for Environmental Policy of London’s Imperial College, is to receive Arne Richter Award for Outstanding Young Scientists at the EGU 2016 General Assembly which will take place in Vienna on 17-22 April.
Madani’s work includes application of systems engineering, conflict resolution, system dynamics, economics, optimization as well as simulation and modeling methods to water, environmental, and energy resource problems at different scales to derive policy and management insights.
Also, Ali Mohammadi will receive 2016 Division Outstanding Young Scientist Awards for Energy, Resources and the Environment (ERE) Division.
EGU is Europe’s premier geosciences union, dedicated to the pursuit of excellence in the geosciences and the planetary and space sciences for the benefit of humanity, worldwide. It was established in 2002 as a merger of the European Geophysical Society (EGS) and the European Union of Geosciences (EUG), and has headquarters in Munich, Germany.
This year, the EGU has named 49 recipients of 2016 Union Medals and Awards, Division Medals, and Division Outstanding Young Scientists Awards from both European and non-European countries. According to the website, the recipients are honored for their important contributions to the Earth, planetary and space sciences.
