President Stresses Importance Of Communication, Cyber Technologies

Tehran, Nov 3, IRNA – President Hassan Rouhani presided over the meeting of first high cyberspace council on Saturday night and underlined the importance of information, communication and cyberspace technologies in today’s life. During the meeting President Rouhani pointed to a decree by Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei two years ago on formation of the council, and said, “In this decree the importance of science for achieving development and providing an access of researchers in line with production of science and technology and the science-based economy and even in line with the regular life of the people has clearly been dealt with.” The Iranian president laid emphasis on the necessity for taking serious measure to materialize the guidelines referred to in Supreme Leader’s decree, and said, “We should plan, make decisions and act in such a way as to be able to pave the way for people’s access to this technology in better way. President Rouhani pointed to the role of communication technologies in creating a new atmosphere in the lives of the people of the world, and pointed out, “The existing requirement and sensitivities in this field and many exigencies of today’s lives of the nations necessitates to be able to make optimum use of the prevailing opportunities through coordination, decision-making and convenient leadership within the format of the council.” The Iranian president said that the modern information technologies have created a new atmosphere in the life of the people of the world, adding that the information technology should be regarded as an important pillar in the country’s development. During the Sunday’s session, Mohamamd Hassan Entezari with absolute majority of the council’s members was appointed as secretary of the Cyberspace High Council and Head of Cyberspace National Center./end
