Capitals Ankara and Washington to become sister cities
ANKARA (A.A) - September 24, 2011 - Tukey's capital Ankara and U.S. capital Washington will become sister cities on October 3.
Ankara Metropolitan Mayor Melih Gokcek and Washington Mayor Vincent Gray will sign the protocol in Washington D.C. municipality building.
Ankara Municipality stated on Saturday that Washington would be added among 42 sister cities of Ankara to develop relations between countries as well as cities, make cooperation in democracy and human rights, boost culture, friendship and peace, and strengthen cooperation in economy as well as share of information.
Gokcek will be in Washington to participate in "Turkish Day" celebrations which are held on October 2 every year in Washington.
