I want to reach an agreement more than Christofias and Downer, says Turkish Cypriot President Eroglu

LEFKOSA (A.A) - January 4, 2012 - Turkish Cypriot President Dervis Eroglu said Wednesday that he wanted to reach an agreement in Cyprus more than Greek Cypriot leader Demetris Christofias and UN Secretary General's special advisor for Cyprus Alexander Downer. Speaking to reporters following his meeting with Christofias in Lefkosa on Wednesday, Eroglu said that the Turkish Cypriot people were more sincere than the Greek Cypriots in trying to reach an agreement in the island. This is because the Turkish Cypriots need an agreement more than the Greek Cypriots, Eroglu underlined. During today's meeting, we discussed the issues of "Management and Share of Power" as well as "Property", Eroglu said. We will be in an effort to put forward certain flexibility with the hope of reaching an agreement in Cyprus. The upcoming trilateral summit in New York will be the venue where we will witness whether or not an agreement would be possible, Eroglu said. Eroglu and Christofias will attend a trilateral meeting with the UN Secretary General in New York between January 22 and 24.
