Bangladesh Keen On Promoting Commercial Ties With Iran: Envoy

Semnan, Jan 9, IRNA – Bangladeshi Ambassador to Iran Khandakar Abdus Sattar said that his country is willing to expand commercial ties with Iran.
In a meeting with the senior directors and economic activists of Semnan province, he added that the two Muslim countries have had excellent ties since ancient times and now commercial cooperation should expand.
Stating that currently commercial collaboration is not remarkable, he added that cordial ties in al l fields should be taken into account.
Abdus Sattar said that Bangladesh is involved in the production and export of clothes to Europe and the US.
The country’s economy is mainly dependent on agriculture and it terribly needs to import machinery and fertilizers, he noted.
He further added that exchanges of machinery can serve as a way of developing bilateral ties.
Referring to the impact of Persian language on the country, he also said that currently, there are 8,000 Persian words in the Bangladeshi language, indicating long-lasting friendship between the two states.
The envoy visited an industrial unit of Semnan province which is home to 1,800 industrial and 350 production units.
Bangladesh, on the northern coast of the Bay of Bengal, is surrounded by India, with a small common border with Myanmar in the southeast./end
