Abdul Salam Hails Iran’s Support For Tunisian Revolution

Addis Ababa, Jan 30, IRNA – Tunisian Foreign Minister Rafik Abdul Salam here on Monday hailed Iran’s positive stand regarding his country's revolution.
Making the remark in a meeting with his visiting Iranian counterpart Ali Akbar Salehi on the sidelines of the 18th African Union Summit, Abdul Salam stressed the need for promoting Tunisia’s relations with Islamic states after the victory of the revolution in the country.
Salehi, for his part, congratulated Abdul Salam on the victory anniversary of Tunisian revolution which was the beginning of the wave of Islamic Awakening in the region.
Salehi voiced Iran’s readiness to help Tunisia move towards progress and development.
Both foreign ministers further discussed issues of mutual interest and underlined the need for activating joint economic commission.
Reviewing the latest regional developments, Salehi and Abdul Salam stressed the importance of stability and security in the region and rejected any foreign interventions in the region as a factor which will only intensify regional instability./end
