Four nabbed, processed wood seized

SAMUT PRAKAN, February 5 (TNA) - Police have arrested four men and seized processed Siamese rosewood worth about 36 million baht during a raid here, said national deputy police chief Pol. Gen. Pansiri Prapawat on Sunday. Two Thais, a Myanmar and a Chinese were apprehended after police searched a rented warehouse in Samut Prakan’s Muang District and found the seized Siamese rosewood which police believed it would be smuggled out of the country. Pol. Gen. Pansiri said the seizure of Siamese rosewood, the largest in the past year, could easily fetch more than 70 million baht in overseas. The four men, according to Pol. Gen. Pansiri, told police during interrogation that they were hired to transport articles from Wang Noi District of Ayutthaya Province and they did not know that they were processed Siamese rosewood. Police believed the rosewood was brought from the Northeast and were investigating the country of origin, he said. (TNA)
