Independence, Islamic Revolution's Greatest Achievement: Iran Envoy

Ankara, Feb 6, IRNA – Iran’s consul general in Istanbul Mahmoud Heydari said on Sunday that the biggest achievement of the 1979 Islamic Revolution was toppling the US-backed regime of Pahlavi dynasty and establishment of an independent political system. Talking to IRNA, Heydari said that the motto of “Not Affiliated to West, Not Affiliated to East” reinforced the motto of independence and self-reliance. “As acknowledged by all fair observers, the ideals of Islam, freedom-seeking, and pursuing independence, as well as challenging Imperialism that has become dominant discourse today in the region and the world have been influenced by Iran’s 1979 Islamic Revolution,” he added. Heydari commemorated the martyrs of the 1979 Islamic Revolution and 1980-88 Iran-Iraq War (Sacred Defense), particularly the martyred Iranian nuclear scientists. He noted that the 10-Day Dawn (a 10-day period from the arrival of late Imam Khomeini to Iran in 1979 and the victory of the 1979 Islamic Revolution) is reminiscent of the days which played a crucial role in determining the fate of Iranian nation.
