Thai Court approves arrest warrant for fifth bomb suspect
BANGKOK, February 19 (TNA) - The Thai court has given approval to police to issue an arrest warrant for the fifth Iranian suspect involved in three bomb blasts which rocked Bangkok’s Sukhumvit 71 road on Tuesday.
Two Iranian suspects identified as Saeid Moradi, 28, who lost both legs from his own explosive device, and 42-year-old Mohammad Hazaei are now in custody in Bangkok.
The third Iranian suspect identified as Masoud Sedaghatzadeh was apprehended by Malaysian authorities in Kuala Lumpur on Wednesday after fleeing to that country. Thai police are requesting their Malaysian counterparts to extradite him to Thailand for prosecution.
The fourth Iranian suspect, a female, identified as Rohani Leila, has reportedly returned to Iran.
Senior police officers are scheduled to hold a meeting early Monday to discuss developments of the case which has affected public morale in the Thai capital.
Meanwhile, a local survey “Suan Dusit Poll” conducted among Bangkok residents, has found that about 60 per cent of the respondents agree the explosions eroded public confidence in the government. (TNA)
