BANGKOK, May 1 (TNA) - Thai Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra is scheduled to pay an official visit to Australia from May 26-29, aimed to mainly enhance bilateral business relations between Thailand and Australia.
Thai Foreign Minister Surapong Tovichakchaikul told reporters that nearly 100 Thai entrepreneurs from six local sectors, including food, energy, tourism, education, transport and auto part will also accompany the Thai prime minister during her four-day trip to Australia.
According to the foreign minister, Australia is Thailand’s 6th largest trading partner; while Thailand remains Australia’s 11th largest trading partner.
The minister said the Thai government has targeted that bilateral trade between Thailand and Australia should reach 40 billion baht over the next five years.
The Thai foreign minister acknowledged he believes that Premier Yingluck's upcoming visit to Canberra should help attract more Australian investors to Thailand and reciprocally expand more business opportunities for Thai entrepreneurs. (TNA)
