Thai-Bahraini PMs discuss bilateral ties
BANGKOK, June 1 (TNA) - Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra met her Bahraini counterpart His Royal Highness Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa at Bagnkok's Government House on Friday, during which bilateral relations between Thailand and Bahrain were discussed.
Yingluck thanked the head of Bahrain's government for particulaly expanding economic cooperation between the Gulf state and Thailand, covering training programmes on cultured aquatic species, the opening of a distribution center for Thai products and cooperation extended by the Islamic Bank of Bahrain.
The Bahraini Prime Minister, who is visiting Thailand to attend the 21st World Economic Forum (WEF) on East Asia, held in Bangkok from May 30-June 1, acknowledged, meanwhile, that strong Bahraini-Thai relations have become a model for other Gulf states.
The Bahraini Prime Minister also said that Thailand and Bahrain have also become connectivity centers between the Gulf and the Southeast Asian regions and each other gateways for the 10-member Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and the six-member Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC).(TNA)
