Thai police nab 46 Lao illegal immigrants

PATHUM THANI, THAILAND, June 22 (TNA) - Police on Thursday apprehended a pool of 46 Lao nationals, comprising men, women and even children, for illegal entry into Thailand. The Saraburi’s Hinkong Highway Police in Thailand's central region, stopped a van for speeding and found the 46 illegal immigrants from neighbouring Laos packed inside, while being on their way to Bangkok's suburban Pathum Thani province. The driver of the van, Santi Kornkasem , told the police that he was hired for 3,000 baht to pick up the Lao immigrants, who had earlier illegally crossed the border into Thailand's northeastern Ubon Ratchathani province, to work in Pathum Thani, if not arrested.
