Prosecution against Australian tourist killers expedited

PHUKET, THAILAND, June 27 (TNA) - The Royal Thai Police has ordered the expedition of legal action against two Thai men caught in connection with last Wednesday's murder of an Australian woman in Thailand's southern resort Phuket to build up confidence among international travellers. Phuket provincial police chief Police Major General Chanasit Wattanawarangkura said Wednesday that a bid for temporary release on bail sought by the two suspects has been rejected and all types of evidences need to be collected within 15 days in order to expedite their judicial prosecution as soon as possible to regain confidence among international tourists, as instructed by the Royal Thai Police. The two suspects; Surasak Suwannachote and SurinThatthong, were charged with robbery and murder of the Australian woman and wounding another victim, also an Australian. The local police, meanwhile, sought the Phuket Provincial Court's approval of the detention at police custody of the two suspects for another 48 hours pending further interrogations. (TNA)
