Iran Eyes Lifting Dutch Restrictions On Iranian Students: Envoy

Berlin, July 2, IRNA -- A diplomatic campaign to lift Dutch restrictions on Iranian students has been kicked off, said Iran's ambassador to the Netherlands, Mohammad Kazem Gharib-Abadi. Gharib-Abadi made the remarks in an exclusive interview with IRNA. He slammed the 'illegal and discriminatory' Dutch action, saying it deprived Iranian students from their right to education. He reiterated the Dutch decision was in violation to international and European Union laws. Iran's top diplomat in Holland said the issue has also been addressed in talks with Dutch Foreign Ministry officials and lawmakers. We have expressed our serious concern and protest in these meetings, said Gharib-Abadi. He urged the Dutch government to take constructive and serious steps in resolving this matter by lifting restrictions on Iranian students and their scientific activities./end
