President : Iran-Pakistan Should Be More Active In Border Trade Ties

Tehran, Aug 6, IRNA – President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said that the borders regions between Iran and Pakistan should be the most active ones in terms of trade and commercial transactions.
President Ahmadinejad made the remarks in a meeting with the visiting Pakistani Speaker of Senate Seyed Nir Hossein Bokhari in Tehran on Sunday.
“The geographical borders between Iran and Pakistan are only due to the geopolitical divisions notwithstanding the fact that the people of Iran and Pakistan have numerous cultural commonalities emanating from the same source and origin,” the president added.
He emphasized on need for making use from the existing potentials for cooperation between Iran and Pakistan for meeting the needs of both countries.
Referring to the fact that there is currently no obstacle, restriction and negative point hindering improvement of relations between Tehran and Islamabad, President Ahmadinejad pointed out that Islamic Republic of Iran and Pakistan have common interests and they also have common enemies that never want the two countries to make progress or become powerful.
He emphasized Tehran and Islamabad unlike the will of their enemies should consolidate their friendly ties more than before.
Referring to the fact that the meddling of foreigners in the incidents and affairs of the region is clearly evident, President Ahmadinejad noted that the arrogant powers and enemies of the regional countries do not like the the regional countries get closer to each other.
The president expressed satisfaction with the new agreements reached between Tehran and Islamabad.
“In addition to improving political and economic relations, the conditions should be set for facilitating the exchange of visits between the people of Iran and Pakistan because expansion of such ties in addition to establishment and enhancement of economic ties will immensely influence the further proximity between the Iranian and Pakistani nations,” President Ahmadinejad noted.
He pointed out that strengthening of trade transactions across borders of Iran and Pakistan not only paves the way for enhancing bilateral ties, it also provides the opportunity for further restricting the terrorist activities in these regions.
Emphasizing the need for consensus in regional issues in order to prevent meddling of foreigners in internal affairs of regional countries and preventing terrorist acts, President Ahmadinejad noted that today the enemies are dreaming of creating rift among governments and nations of the region and they want to increase their pressures on these countries more than before.
Referring to the fact that the arrogant powers never want Iran and Pakistan to become powerful and make progress, the president said that the security of the Islamic Republic of Iran and Pakistan is interrelated so that both countries should work together for enhancing such security.
Visiting Pakistani Speaker of Senate Seyed Nir Hossein Bokhari for his part said that Pakistan and Iran as two brother and Muslim countries have long-standing and historic relations.
“Further interaction between Iranian and Pakistani nations can help enhance their bilateral relations,” Bokhari added.
The Pakistani speaker noted Iran and Pakistan should further strengthen their bilateral economic and trade ties.
“Both Iran and Pakistan have many common stances in many international organizations and institutions while Iran as a role-player in the Middle East region greatly influences the international and regional issues,” Bokhari added.
While emphasizing the role of cooperation between Iran and Pakistan for other regional countries, Pakistan’s speaker of House of Senate called for maximum cooperation between Iran and Pakistan./end
