"Thailand Medical Expo 2012" set from Aug 30-Sept 2
BANGKOK, August 25 (TNA) - The Ministry of Public Health will organize a world class medical fair, Thailand Medical Expo 2012, in Muang Thong Thani on the outskirts of Bangkok from August 30-September 2 to showcase Thailand's potential and readiness to become an international medical hub in the near future.
Public Health Minister Wittaya Buranasiri said that "Thailand Medical Expo 2012" is also aimed to lift the country's health services to the global standards, covering that of dentistry, special treatments, spa and health massages, and to develop the traditional Thai and alternative medicine by setting up clinics of both medicine in public and private hospitals nationwide, along with assuring that Thai herbs and health products meet the Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) standard.
The minister acknowledged that such the improvements in the Thai public health sector is believed to bring in over 800 billion baht of national income over the next five years, as statistics showed that more than 2.5 million international visitors have received medical treatments in Thailand so far this year, earning the Kingdom around 122 billion baht.
According to the minister, "Thailand Medical Expo 2012" features varied public health exhibitions and activities, including those organized in honour of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej and other members of the Royal Family and as part of the Thai Ministry of Public Health's 93rd anniversary celebrations, as well as health seminars and workshops.
In addition, on August 30, an attempt to have the traditional Thai massage put into world records in terms of the highest number of people served by it will also be part of the three-day expo to boost national prestige globally. (TNA)
