Iran Energy Minister: NAM Summit, Opportunity To Promote Ties

Tehran, Aug 26, IRNA – Energy Minister Majid Namjou Sunday described the 16th Non-Aligned Movement meeting here on Sunday as an opportunity to promote Iran's relations with the participating countries. Namjou said his ministry has planned for holding separate meetings with the participating delegations on the sidelines of the event to boost bilateral cooperation. The expert meeting of the NAM member states officially started in the Iranian capital earlier Sunday morning with a speech by Foreign Minister Ali-Akbar Salehi. Some 107 delegates are attending the expert meeting. The two-day meeting will be followed by the meeting of NAM's foreign ministers on August 28-29 and the Summit is to be held on August 30-31. On the sidelines of the meeting, Namjou said that officials of Iran's Ministry of Energy would follow up the implementation of previously inked joint projects between Iran and other countries, including Tajikistan, Iraq and Syria./end
