5-fold Rise In Non-oil Exports In Six Years

Tehran, Aug 28, IRNA – Iran’s non-oil exports showed five-fold increase in six years since President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad took office. According to the Government website non-oil exports earnings rose to $43b in 2011 from $7b in 2005, showing 514 percent increase. It said that petrochemical output rose to 45m tons in 2011 from 15m tons in 2005, showing 200 percent growth. Auto production rose to 1400,000 sedans in 2011 from 840,000 sedans in 2005, showing 66 percent growth. Iran has attained self-sufficiency in cement production as it has reached up to 70m tons. Some 155m tons of minerals were also extracted in 2004. Six percent growth was observed in investment in the mining sector in the years 2005-2011./end
