Kuwaiti FM In Tehran To Attend NAM Summit

Tehran, Aug 28, IRNA – Kuwaiti Foreign Minister Mohammad al-Sabah arrived here late on Monday to attend the 16th Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) Summit. Foreign Ministry officials welcomed him at Mehrabad Airport. On Sunday, experts from NAM countries began a two-day meeting in Tehran to make preparations for the summit. On Tuesday and Wednesday, foreign ministers from several of the member countries are to meet ahead of the summit on Thursday and Friday. NAM was founded in Belgrade in 1961 by then Yugoslav president Josip Broz Tito, Indian prime minister Jawaharlal Nehru, Egyptian president Gamal Abdel Nasser, Ghana’s first president Kwame Nkrumah, and Indonesian president Sukarno, all legends of the national liberation movement, with solid anti-imperialism credentials, who advocated a middle course for the developing world between the western and eastern blocs in the Cold War./end
