Ban Ki-Moon Heads For Tehran To Attend NAM Summit

New York, Aug 28, IRNA – UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon heading a UN delegation departed New York for Tehran to attend the 16th NAM Summit. Spokesman of Ban Ki-Moon said on Tuesday that the secretary general is to discuss different international and regional issues with Iranian senior officials. He said details of the meetings will be published soon. The spokesman added that the secretary general will leave Tehran on Saturday. Ban Ki-Moon's visit to Iran caused anger of the Zionist regime and the US government and many experts and media have described the visit as another blow to the west efforts to isolate Iran. The spokesman, Martin Nesirky, had already said that the secretary general was under pressures by the Zionist regime and the west to cancel his visit to Iran. He added that in spite of a number of requests to cancel the visit, the secretary general believes that lack of participation of the UN in the highest level would be unacceptable, because two thirds of the UN members are members of NAM./end
