UN Syria envoy has no plan to visit Iran: spokesman

TEHRAN,Sept.11(MNA) – Lakhdar Brahimi, the new UN-Arab League joint special envoy on Syria, has no plan to visit Iran, according to his spokesman, Ahmad Fawzi. The UN envoy planned to visit Syria soon, but there were no plans for travel to Iran, Fawzi told Reuters in Geneva on Sunday. Brahimi visited Cairo on Sunday for three days of talks with the Arab League and Egyptian officials. Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Asian and Oceanian Affairs Abbas Araqchi told the Persian service of the Mehr News Agency on the same day that Brahimi had planned to pay a visit to Tehran at the earliest opportunity.
