Tehranis Protest Sacrilegious Movie, Caricature

Tehran, Oct 17, IRNA – People in western Tehran on Tuesday staged sit-in protest against insult to Holy Prophet of Islam (Peace Be Upon Him) by enemies of Muslims. More than 3,000 people demonstrated against a sacrilegious film and publication of a blasphemous caricature. They blamed the US and the usurper regime of Israel for the insult, chanting “Down with the US,” and “Down with Israel.” They issued a statement at the end of the sit-in to condemn such moves. A French magazine published caricatures of the Prophet Muhammad on Wednesday, causing worldwide protests and prompting France to step up security around its embassies abroad./end
