Official: Banning Broadcast Of Iran Channels Indicates West's Modern Media Dictatorship

Arak, Markazi Prov, Oct 23, IRNA - Secretary of Iran's Majlis (Parliament) National Security and Foreign Policy commission Mohammad-Hassan Asafari said here Tuesday that banning broadcast of the Iranian satellite channels has indicated the West's modern media dictatorship. Speaking to IRNA, Asafari said the move also proved that West and the hegemonic system were against the free flow of information and news. The European Union decided to discontinue broadcast of programs of some 19 Iranian satellite television and radio channels on Hotbird since last week. Following the decision, the Eutelsat company has exerted pressure on the Hotbird satellite broadcast service provider to cut 12473 satellite transmission and prevent providing services to the networks of this satellite package since October 15. Iran's Al-Alam, Press TV, Al-Kowsar, News network, Sahar 1 and 2 and Jaam-e Jam 1 and 2 TV channels are no longer broadcast on Hotbird. Asafari said that the move has also proved that the US and its western allies gave no importance to the public opinion./end
