Farabi Festival Opens In Tehran

Tehran, Oct 27, IRNA – The 6th Farabi International Award Festival opened in the presence of President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad here on Saturday. During the one-day festival, a number of selected Iranian and foreign scholars will be awarded for their research works on human sciences and Islamic studies later today. Several high-ranking officials including Minister of Science, Research and Technology Kamran Daneshju are also attending the ceremony. The 2012 Farabi International Award Festival, included 12 scientific committees, which focused on the genuine, applicable researches corresponding to human sciences and Islamic studies. A Muslim philosopher and a prominent musician, Farabi (c. 878-950) was regarded in the Arab world as the greatest philosophical authority after Aristotle./end
