Tehran, Dec 18, IRNA – Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast says leveling accusations against Iranian nationals is part of the West’s anti-Iran scenario.
He as talking to IRNA on Monday on closure of the case against a former Iranian diplomat, Nosratollah Tajik in the UK.
He said certain western countries are trying to target Iran’s interests by leveling accusations against Iranian nationals.
He said the aim of such pre-planned and engineered programs is to put further pressure on the Iranian nation, adding that according to the plan, they raise such accusations as trading items which they introduce illegal against different people and then easily ignore their rights.
He said the case of Tajik is an example of this kind of behavior on the part of the West, stressing that as a former foreign ministry diplomat, he spent six years under house arrest without any evidence against him.
Mehmanparast further noted that the Iranian foreign ministry offered extensive support to Tajik both by hiring skilled attorneys and providing medical help to him and his family.
Saying that Tajik is to return to Iran soon, he appreciated the efforts of Oman in helping with the closure of case against Tajik.
Following cutting of ties between Iran and Britain, Oman represents Iran’s interests in the UK.
A London court on Thursday ordered end to Tajik’s house arrest.
Tajik, who used to teach in Durham University, was arrested in 2006 for allegedly trying to purchase night vision equipment./end
