Thailand’s agricultural products and food exports in 2013 set to rise 10%

BANGKOK, Feb 3 (TNA) - In an attempt to meet an increase of export target for agricultural and food products at 10 per cent in 2013, the Department of International Trade Promotion of Thailand has mapped out several projects to enable the ‘Thai Kitchen to the World’ programme to achieve success, said Srirat Rastapana, director-general of the department. Four major activities have been laid out in a bid to meet the target, said Mrs. Srirat. They include an attempt to penetrate hygienic food for export, export of frozen food to Europe and ASEAN markets, organising 12 Thai goods in overseas, and sending five groups of trade representatives to hold trade talks with ASEAN, China, India, Japan and the Middle East countries. Also, the department plans to hold 19 exhibitions involving with food, beverage and important related industries in 14 countries. The exhibitions include the Food Taipei 2013 which will be held in Taipei, Taiwan between this June 26-29, the Fine Food Australia 2013 to be held in Sydney between September 9-12, the World Food Moscow 2013 to be held in Moscow between this September 16-19 and the Anuga 2013 to be organized in Germany’s Cologne between October 5-9. The department also has plans to offer advice and assist Thai businessmen wishing to invest in rest6aurant business in ASEAN, especially in Vietnam, Myanmar and Indonesia, and in eastern Europe, particularly in Russia and Poland.
