US Nuclear Scientist : Political Agreement Proper Solution To Iran’s Nuclear Issue

New York, March 3, IRNA – A US nuclear scientist believes Iran’s nuclear issue could well be settled through dialogue and diplomacy, stressing that any solution should be based on a mutual agreement between Iran and the parties in the talks. Talking to IRNA here, Thomas Cochran who is a director at the Natural Resources Defense Council urged both Tehran and the western countries to frankly consider diplomacy to find a solution to the problem. He expressed optimism over seeking a way which could be acceptable for both sides and said logical approach to the issue by officials from the two sides could pave the way for such an agreement. As for the US call for direct talks with Iran, he welcomed the suggestion and said it could influence the process of Iran-5+1 talks in a positive manner if it takes place parallel to the talks with the International Atomic Energy Agency. Asked to comment on the Zionist regime’s nuclear arsenal, Cochran admitted the West’s double-standard approach towards the issue./end
