West urged to respect Iranˈs nuclear right

Islamabad, April 6, IRNA -- Vice president of a Pakistani political party on Friday said that western powers must respect Iranˈs peaceful nuclear right and stop putting unjustified pressure on the Islamic Republic. Talking to IRNA, All Pakistan Muslim League leader Ahmed Raza Khan Kasuri said that West must come up with a common understanding with Iran in upcoming nuclear talks. Nuclear talks between Iran and the Group 5+1 (five UN Security Council permanent members plus Germany) would be held on April 5-6 in Almaty, Kazakhstan. The six world powers held talks with Iran in Almaty in February when western officials say they made a proposal intended to break a deadlock in the dispute over Tehranˈs nuclear program. Iran says its nuclear program is peaceful, but the United States, influenced by Tel Aviv, accuses Tehran of seeking nuclear weapons capability. Expressing his views, Ahmed Raza Khan Kasuri said that Iranian government has repeatedly assured the western world that they are developing nuclear program for peaceful purposes. ˈUnless western countries have evidence against Iranˈs peaceful nuclear program they should respect Iranˈs nuclear program,ˈ said the politician. Kasuri said that the western states should not stand in the way of Iranˈs enrichment program. He added that Iran being an independent state has the right to develop itself in nuclear technology because it is the most powerful source of development for any country of the world. Ahmed Raza Khan Kasuri went on to say that Iran is a responsible nation and is assuring the world that their nuclear program is for peaceful purposes. ˈI think the West should accept Iranˈs stance over nuclear program,ˈ he viewed. The politician said that the West should quit the policy of double standards against a country which is fulfilling all international obligations regarding development of nuclear technology. ˈSanctions against Iran must be lifted,ˈ the All Pakistan Muslim League leader said. Responding to a question, he said that there is a contradiction in Washingtonˈs policies. ˈThey close their eyes if Zionist regime is working on military-oriented nuclear program but when any Muslim country like Iran go ahead with peaceful nuclear program they raise their eyes and see the whole thing in a skeptical way,ˈ he viewed. ˈPersonally I feel that dialogue is the only powerful weapon to resolve issues,ˈ said Ahmed Raza Khan Kasuri. He opined that the West should avoid monologue with Iran because in politics monologue means dictation and treating the other party as a subordinate. He said that the West must come up with a common understanding with Iran on nuclear issue. ˈThere must be harmony in talks and instead of applying sanctions West should adopt most common instrument of international politics to settle issues with Iran which is dialogue,” said the politician.
