Majlis Commission Examines Iran’s Ties With Egypt, Saudi Arabia

Tehran, April 8, IRNA – Rapporteur of Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Hossein Naghavi Hosseini said on Sunday that the commission examined the latest developments of Syria and Iran’s ties with Egypt and Saudi Arabia.
He said that the commission held the meeting in presence of Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, deputy foreign minister for Arab and African affairs.
According to Hosseini, Amir-Abdollahian said that the western-backed Syrian rebels have resorted to creating insecurity in the country which is indicative of their weakness in confrontation with Syrian army.
He underlined that US officials’ visits to the region are aimed to escalate tensions.
Despite efforts made by the US and its western and regional allies, the Syrian government still have the situation under its control, he said.
On Iran-Egypt ties he said that the relations of the two countries are getting better.
He added that extremism is a serious danger for the Egyptian revolution, the Syrian crisis and the Muslim world and the main cause of insecurity and terrorism in Iraq, Turkey and Pakistan and noted that Iran and Egypt should jointly thwart the threat.
Commenting on the car accident in which a Saudi Arabian diplomat killed an Iranian national, he said the accident is under investigation and the rights of the families of the victim will be vindicated./end
