Larijani: Deepening Of Ties To Benefit Iran-Iraq Muslims

Tehran, April 23, IRNA – Iran's Parliament Speaker said in a meeting with Iraqi Justice Minister that Tehran has always supported Iraq in its post-dictatorship era, adding that deepening of comprehensive ties will benefit both countries.
Ali Larijani expressed happiness over the constantly growing trend of the bilateral political, economic, cultural, in particular, parliamentary ties between both sides, adding, that the Parliament fully supports the reached agreements between the two countries, according to the Parliament's News and Media Office.
Larijani added that unity among Iraq's Shia and Sunni citizens is important for that country, reiterating that ˈsome governments are trying to sow seeds of discord among Iraqi political groups to weaken the political system in that country.
He evaluated the shared stands of the two countries over the regional and international developments as a positive point in Iran-Iraq relations, adding, ˈClose viewpoints and continuous consultations between the two countriesˈ officials can secure peace and stability in the region.ˈ
He said that the successful holding of Iraqi district councilsˈ elections was a noticeable achievement for the Iraqi government and nation.
Iraqi Justice Minister Hassan al-Shemri, too, in the meeting, considered expansion of political and economic ties between both countries as important and necessary for Iraq, adding that full advantage of existing capacities in both countries must be taken to further expand friendly ties and cooperation.
Regarding the MKO grouplet issue in Iraq, Larijani told the Iraqi official: ˈPresently a greater extent of control is observed over the presence of this grouplet in Iraq, and in collaboration with the international societies, appropriate moves aimed at full evacuation of them from Iraq are in process.ˈ/end
