Iran-IAEA To Hold Talks On May 15

Vienna, April 24, IRNA -- The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) announced here on Tuesday that the tenth round of talks between Iran and IAEA is held on May 15 in Vienna. Iran and the IAEA have already met for nine rounds of talks since late 2011. Their last meeting was held in the Iranian capital, Tehran, in mid-February. After the ninth round of talks, IAEA Deputy Director General and Head of the Department of Safeguards Herman Neckaerts said that the two sides could not reach an agreement on a modality but IAEA is committed to continue talks. Iran and IAEA have been discussing for more than a year to make a modality to clarify how Iran should answer IAEAˈs questions on the issue of probable military dimension (PMD) of Iranˈs nuclear program. The United States, the Israeli regime and some of their allies have falsely accused Iran of pursuing non-civilian objectives in its nuclear energy program. Iran has vehemently rejected the allegation, arguing that as a committed signatory to the Non-Proliferation Treaty and a member of the IAEA, it is entitled to use nuclear technology for peaceful purposes. In addition, the IAEA has conducted numerous inspections of Iran’s nuclear facilities but has never found any evidence showing that Tehran’s nuclear energy program has been diverted toward military objectives./end
