$41bn Worth Non-oil Goods Exported Last Year : Official

Shahr-e Kord, May 6, IRNA – The deputy minister of industry, mines and commerce and head of Iranˈs Trade Development Organization said that non-oil commodities worth $41b were exported last year (ended March 20, 2013). Addressing the first National Conference on Chahar-Mahal Bakhtiari Gaz (candy), he added that the figure shows a five percent increase compared to the figure for the year earlier. Stating that some 80m tons of cement were produced in Iran last year, Safdel noted that Iran ranks fourth in cement production in the world. Over 50,000 various types of automobiles were exported last year, he said. Aquatics, flora, potato, pistachio, date, raisin, fruits, saffron and tea are among the main items exported by the country. Iran exported 14m tons of wheat last year, Safdel said, noting that Iran stands 30th among 60 member states of World Food Organization./end
