President receives family doctors

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ The President Ts.Elbegdorj received Tuesday a delegation of family doctors led by S.Sonin, a head of Mongolia’s Association of Family Medical Experts, and Sh.Khajidmaa, the Association's executive director. Mr Elbegdorj heard their opinions about social problems the family doctors are faced with and talked about related issues. Thanking the State Head for receiving them on occasion of the World Day of Family Doctors, the delegation highly spoke the family doctor's system, created here in 1999, and added that it has been considered as similar to good systems of other countries. The doctors emphasized that it is urgent to improve the financing for family hospitals and their services. They complained that family doctors are paid the lowest salaries in the country and that their hospitals are located in one building together with police, and that they want to involve all family hospitals in health insurance. "It is really inappropriate to run medical service near police section because the hospital must keep sanitation," they explained. In addition, the doctors said family hospitals want to have rooms for medical and rehabilitation treatments as well as a laboratory. In response, the President underlined a requirement to improve family doctors by amending the laws on health and on health insurance, and said he will support family hospitals.
