Iran`s Velayati: Foreign policy needs complete overhaul

TEHRAN,June 9(MNA) – Presidential candidate Ali Akbar Velayati said on Saturday that the country’s foreign policy needed a complete overhaul. The former Iranian foreign minister also expressed regret that the country did not have good relations with its neighbors and said that the foreign policy apparatus should take steps to improve the country’s relations with other countries. The principlist candidate, who is the senior foreign policy advisor of the Supreme Leader, said that the Islamic Republic had great potential to improve its diplomatic relations with other countries, adding, “Unfortunately, it has not been utilized properly.” Commenting on the country’s nuclear issue, Velayati said that Iran should prudently resist world powers’ unreasonable demands.
