Tiles, Ceramics Exports Exceed $0.5m: Official

Tehran, June 19, IRNA – Head of Iranˈs Trade Development Organization says that Iran ranks seventh in the world in terms of exporting tiles and ceramics, putting the value of the goodsˈ exports at 0.5 million last year (ended March 20). Talking to reporters on the sidelines of the 22nd International Tiles and Ceramics Exhibition, Hamid Safdel added that marketing Iranian-made tiles in Europe and regional states reveals the quality and diversity of the goods. The 22nd International Tiles and Ceramics Exhibition opened today in the capital city concurrent with the International Stone Exhibition. Some 161 Iranian and 24 foreign companies from 24 countries are participating in the ongoing event. Stating that Iranˈs tiles and ceramics industry is undergoing changes, Safdel added that some 455 million meters of tiles and ceramics were produced in the country last year, showing a 37 percent increase compared to the figure for the year earlier. Given the investment made in the field, tiles and ceramics production is expected to hit 650 million meters this year (started March 21), he said./end
