GECF Expert Meet Starts, Iran Envoy Attends

Tehran, June 29, IRNA – Expert meeting of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF) started work in the Russian capital Saturday with participation of representatives of member countries including Iran. The meeting is to issue a statement that will be reviewed during the GECF ministerial session. President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad will attend the second summit of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum to be held on July 1 in Moscow. The GECF member countries possess 42 percent of world gas production and 70 percent of global gas resources. The current members of the GECF are Iran, Algeria, Bolivia, Egypt, Equatorial Guinea, Libya, Nigeria, Oman, Qatar, Russia, Trinidad and Tobago, United Arab Emirates and Venezuela. Kazakhstan, Iraq, the Netherlands and Norway enjoy the GECF observer status./end
