Bright outlook for Thai herbal cosmetics exports

BANGKOK, July 7 (TNA) - Director-general of Thailand’s International Trade Promotion Department Srirat Rastapana says she is optimistic demand for Thai herbal cosmetics in the United Arab Emirates is now at an all-time high. Srirat said Thai cosmetics and herbal cosmetics were gaining popularity in the UAE, especially products used in beauty and spa business. She said in 2012, the UAE imported 1.87 billion U.S. dollars worth of cosmetic and hygienic products, most of them from Europe and India. Imports from Thailand meanwhile, were worth about two percent or about 37.4 million U.S. dollars, but the market sees plenty of room for growth due to strong buying power and appetite for quality Thai products.
