Shahr-e Kord Cement Exports Up By 80%

Shahr-e Kord, Aug 19, IRNA – Cement exports from Shahr-e Kord, Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari province, have increased by 80 percent during the first four months of the current Iranian year (started March 21), said head of the provincial Industry, Mines and Trade Organization. Talking to IRNA, Rahman Karami said some 240,000 tons of cement have been exported from the city to the international markets since the start of the year. The consignments of cement were exported to Kuwait and Iraq, he noted, adding that the exports earned the country $18 million in foreign currency. Karami further stated that cement production capacity of Shahr-e Kord Cement Factory stands at one million tons per annum. Various kinds of cement with different types and rates of resistance are produced in the factory which provided jobs for 450 people, he said. Shahr-e Kord is the capital city of Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari province. It is the largest city in the province and is adjacent to Irans third largest city of Isfahan./end
