Sr. Army Official Dismisses US Defense Secretary Rhetoric

Tehran, Dec 9, IRNA - Deputy chief of staff of the Armed Forces for Basij Affairs Brigadier General Massoud Jazayeri on Sunday dismissed rhetoric of US defense secretary Chuck Hagel about Iranian nuclear program. In a meeting with the military and cultural personnel, he said the rhetoric made by the US defense secretary will not help them resolve their problems. Jazayeri acknowledged the government of President Hassan Rouhani has oped for diplomacy to resolve the decade-long dispute over nuclear program with the western governemnts. He lambasted Hagel for making bellicose statement, He said that military power must back the nuclear deal to curb Iranian nuclear program. Jazayeri said that the Islamic Republic of Iran is capable enough to defend national sovereignty and territorial integrity. Iran’s invaluable experiences in eight years of sacred defense and the latest scientific achievements by the country’s experts play prominent role to thwart plots as well as military threats posed by the enemies, he said. Jazayeri said that under the wise leadership of the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, the country’s defense might is deterrent to any possible military threat. The Iranian nation regard the speeches delivered by the US president and the country’s defense secretary as a joke which say all options are on the table, Jazayeri said. The US and Zionists interest are within reach of Iranian forces and Tehran has made decision on taking proper action in due time, he said. World public opinion believe that the US is the biggest war criminal and its warmongering policies are the root cause of many wars and bloodshed in the world and to the same reason the US is very defamed among world Muslims, he said. The US should understand that the country’s problems could not be resolved through warmongering and they will not be able to impose their views unilaterally as the era of militarism and uni-polarism is over, Jazayeri said./end
