Thailand denies rice dumping charge

BANGKOK, February 22 (TNA) - Thailand's caretaker government has denied that it is dumping global rice market by offering low prices. Caretaker Deputy Commerce Minister Yanyong Phuangrach denied the charge on Saturday, clarifying that Thai rice is much more expensive than that of several rival producing countries, but Thai grains have superior quality. Yanyong said the caretaker government is not worried whether countries would file their complaints with the Geneva-based World Trade Organisation (WTO) on the charge because the caretaker government has solid proof to explain to them. The caretaker deputy commerce minister's remarks were in response to the recent charge aired by Indonesia.(TNA)
