Top envoy believes Thailand's political rallies not affect Indonesian election
BANGKOK, April 5 (TNA) - Indonesia Ambassador to Thailand H.E. Lutfi Rauf says that Thailand's political rallies should not affect Indonesian voters’ travelling to the Indonesian legislative election site in Bangkok, assessing a high turnout of Indonesian voters in the election, set on April 9.
The Indonesian top envoy stated that Indonesians are enthusiastic about the upcoming election, as it has a significant impact on the presidential election in July 2014.
The overseas legislative election, held at the Indonesian Embassy in Bangkok, is the advance voting of the April 7 election in Indonesia.
The advance election will be run from 8 am until 4 pm next Wednesday.
Twelve political parties are contesting in the 2014 Indonesian legislative election, with the PDI-P Party expected to win in a landslide, after it declared Joko Widodo as its presidential candidate.
There are approximately 1,500 Indonesian nationals residing in Thailand. (TNA)
