BAAC to offer loan to agriculturists

BANGKOK, June 8 (TNA) - The state-run Bank for Agriculture and Agricultural Cooperatives (BAAC) is preparing to offer loan amounting to more than 60 billion baht to the farming sector and small and medium-sized fruit processing manufacturers. Thanit Suthasuwan, executive vice president of BAAC said the loan is aimed at improving marketing and raising prices of farming products. Fruit growers in the eastern province of Rayong will be helped first as the role model in the country. Mr. Thanit said the loan would be offered to new entrepreneurs and those living in communities who are interested in producing and developing fruit products, and exporters. Of the total loans, 25 billion baht will be given to producers in the farming sector, 7.5 billion baht to community enterprises, 3.4 billion baht to entrepreneurs and 30 billion baht as credit cards for farmers.(TNA)
